WINTER PROGRAMMING

(Available from Monday to Friday)

THE PHYSICS OF WINTER

 

 

A winter wonderland is a fascinating place for students to learn how exciting and practical the science of physics can be. It is just not about formluae and calculations but what can be seen and touched in the world around us. Whether we are thinking about weight dispersal of snowshoes or friction on skis, examining the gorgeous intricacies of snow crystal formations or light refraction of snow, the world of physics comes alive and makes sense to students of all ages!

THE AMAZING RACE: ORIENTEERING

 

 

Exploring the wilds of the area with a map, and basic compass work, students must quickly develop their route-finding skills to find points throughout the rugged terrain of ANSC.

EXPLORING ADAPTATION

 

 


A fascinating exploration into how animals have adapted to their environments for survival and what impact human civilization is having on these fragile ecosystems.

NAVIGATING THROUGH TIME

 

 

 

From map and compass, to GPS– An exploration of tools used in order to discover the world around us.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION AND WINTER SURVIVAL

 


Students will learn and develop their winter outdoor skills through activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, orienteering, snow shelter building and fire making. 

MAPLE SYRUP SCIENCE and History (March- weather dependent)

 

 

“Sugar Shack”: A fully functional maple syrup processing facility is on site. This traditional native and French Canadian activity will be explored historically and scientifically through, of course, a sense of adventure.
